Enabling or disabling presence synchronization between Zoom and Microsoft
Presence synchronization between Zoom and Microsoft allows users to have their Zoom presence reflected in Microsoft 365 and vice versa. This capability requires users to authenticate and authorize their Microsoft account through the Zoom web portal. This allows the integration to synchronize bi-directionally user's Zoom Presence to/from Microsoft and reflected in apps like Microsoft Teams, Outlook, SharePoint and more.
- Authentication and Authorization: Users must authorize this integration through Zoom's Web Portal with their Microsoft account to enable this feature. This ensures that the presence status is directly tied to the user's authenticated identity.
- Seamless Integration: Once authenticated, users can set their presence state in Zoom, and it will be reflected in Microsoft 365 including Microsoft Teams.
- Hybrid: This feature is particularly beneficial for users who utilize both Zoom and Microsoft Teams
Requirements for enabling or disabling presence synchronization between Zoom and Microsoft
- Pro, Business, Enterprise, Zoom Phone or Zoom Contact Center standalone accounts
- Account owner or administrator role with access to Account settings
- Microsoft work or school account
How to enable or disable presence synchronization between Zoom and Microsoft
Account
To enable or disable presence synchronization between Zoom and Microsoft for all users on the account:
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit account settings.
- In the navigation menu, click Account Management then Account Settings.
- Click the Mail & Calendar tab.
- Under Integrations, click the Integrate third-party mail and calendar services toggle
to enable or disable it. - If a verification dialog appears, click Enable or Disable to verify the change.
- Under Choose default calendar and contact services for users, select Office 365.
- Under Authorize with, select Graph API.
- Under Choose your permissions then Presence, select the Read and Write checkboxes.
Note: Integration leverages Microsoft Graph ‘Presence.ReadWrite’ and ‘Presence.Read.All’ permissions - Click Save.
- (Optional) Click the Consent to Office 365 calendar integration permission on behalf of entire account toggle
to enable or disable it.
Note: Enabling this option means account owners and admins are consenting the integration on behalf of users within their account, helping streamline end users’ enablement. If disabled, Office 365 users will need to consent to calendar integration by themselves.
