Using Network Connectivity tool with VDI
Support for the Zoom Connectivity Tool has been expanded with additional coverage for Zoom VDI Users. The Network Connectivity Tool allows users to run a series of tests on their network connection, providing insights into any issues they may be experiencing.

Prerequisites for using the network diagnostic tool for VDI
- VDI Client version version 6.1.10 or higher
- VDI Plugin for macOS or Windows version 6.1.10 or higher
How to launch the network diagnostic tool
- Sign in to the Zoom VDI client.
Note: It cannot be run on thin client plugins. - Click your profile picture, then click Settings.
- Click the Keyboard shortcuts tab.
- Next to the Start network diagnostics shortcut, enable Enable global shortcut.
- Using the shortcut keys, launch the network diagnostics tool.
- The diagnostic tool window will display.
How to use the network diagnostic tool
Using the Advanced Network Test
- Once the network diagnostic tool has been launched, click the Advanced Test tab.
Note: The VDI client for Linux only supports the Smart Test tab. The Advanced Test tab will be supported in version 6.4.X. - Enter the host domain or IP address.
- (Optional) From the drop-down, select either a domain from the pre-populated Domain List tab or a previously tested address under the History tab.
Note: The Domain List tab currently only displays when VDI Client is selected. - Select the one or more Connection Test Type(s):
- MTR (My Traceroute)
- Cert
- Ping
- Traceroute
- Select VDI Client or VDI Plugin.
- Click Start Test.
The desired test will run, and the results will automatically be outputted.
Using the Smart Network Test
- Once the network diagnostic tool has been launched, click the Smart Test tab.
- Select VDI Client or VDI Plugin.
Note: The VDI client for Linux only supports the VDI Client test. The VDI Plugin test will be supported in version 6.4.X. - Run the desired test, and the results will automatically be outputted.
Network Test results
The Network Test will test the network connection to either the VDI Client or VDI Plugin. Click View Details next to the sub-tests and display the results of the sub-test:
- Adapter list: This subtest will display the list of adapters associated with the Virtual Machine.
- MTR: This subtest will display the traceroute info from the defined host domain or IP address to the Zoom.us domain.
- Service Status: This test will display the results from the Zoom Meeting and Chat services by pinging those services. Clicking View Details will display additional information about the connection status.
Phone Test results
The Phone Test will test and report information on the audio stream as well as check the connectivity status, including:
- Latency (RTT): Tests the delay in communications between the device and Zoom's servers.
- Packet Loss: Tests the percentage of data packet loss between the device and Zoom's servers.
- Jitter: Tests the latency variation between the device and Zoom's servers.
- Codec: Lists the sending and receiving audio codec used during the test.
- Clock Rate (KHz): Sample rate utilized during the test.
Note: The Phone test requires access to the connected microphone device.
Meeting Test results
The Meeting Test will start a test meeting and display the current meeting statistics. To learn more about the available meeting statistics.
Ping Test results
The Ping Test will run pings to different Zoom service servers. The results will display if a ping was successful or failed to connect to the service.
