Understanding the Zoom Events and Sessions video CMS license
As a hub owner, you can purchase a video content management system (CMS) license as an add-on to your Zoom Events or Zoom Sessions license. This allows you greater control to manage, distribute, and measure your video on-demand (VOD) assets. The types of video CMS licenses are as follows:
Basic video CMS license | Advanced video CMS license |
---|
Included at no additional cost with any Zoom Events and Sessions Unlimited (SaaS) license. Hub owners who don’t have the advanced license fall into this plan, which includes:
- Up to 4 video channels
- Up to 60 videos
- 300 Basic credits per month (each unique viewer is a credit
Notes:
- Pay-per-Attendee (Consumption) and Unlimited (SaaS) users will incur no charges for unique views of their on-demand content during the grace period. Their published channels and videos will remain accessible even if they exceed the 4-channel and 60-video threshold.
- Pay-per-Attendee plan (Consumption) users who purchased the plan after the grace period won’t have access to Basic video CMS features. To access advanced features, they must purchase the Advanced video CMS license.
|
A paid add-on that provides full access to the entire video CMS feature set and additional credits, which are billed based on the number of unique viewers. The credit allocation depends on your license type and capacity. The following features are included, but are not limited to:
- Unlimited video channels
- Unlimited videos
- For the Annual recurring (SaaS) plan, you get a yearly subscription with credits that reset every 30 days
- For the PrePay (Consumption) plan, you can purchase one-time use credits that expire in a year
Note: Hub owners must have at least one paid Zoom Events and Sessions Unlimited (SaaS) license to qualify for an Advanced Video CMS license.

The Zoom Events and Sessions video CMS license provides viewer credits for video content. Each unique viewer of your on-demand video content consumes one viewer credit. Depending on the plan, hub owners can receive between 300 and unlimited credits. The following are the types of viewer credit, listed in the order they are consumed:
- Basic: 300 credits that are included at no additional cost with a Zoom Events Unlimited (SaaS) license.
- Annual recurring: Included in the paid Advanced Video CMS license add-on, the available plans offer 500, 3,000, 10,000, and Unlimited credits, which reset every 30 days.
- PrePay: Included in the paid Advanced Video CMS license add-on, the available plans offer one-time use credits that expire one year from purchase. Plans include 500, 3,000, 10,000, and Usage. The Usage plan is a pay-as-you-go option that allows unlimited unique viewers.
- Overage: If your license runs out of credits, Overage can be used to incur a $1.50 charge for each unique viewer beyond your license allocation.
Note: Overage is enabled by default for both Prepay and Annual recurring plans.
The allotted capacity for unique views is determined by the Advanced Video CMS license assigned to the hub. For example, a hub with the Zoom Events Video CMS 10k Annual (SaaS) plan receives 10,000 credits every 30 days annually, while the Zoom Events Video CMS 3k PrePay (Consumption) plan provides 3,000 one-time use credits that expire one year from the date of purchase.
Requirements for the Zoom Events and Sessions video CMS license
Limitations for the Zoom Events and Sessions video CMS license
- Basic credits and Advanced license credits are handled differently. Basic credits are not shareable by other Zoom Events hubs in the account. License credits are available in a shared credit pool to all hubs assigned an Advanced Video CMS license. The shared credit pool resets every 30 days for Annual recurring and credits expire after one year for PrePay.
- Licenses with Unlimited capacity are not shareable, while credits from licenses with limited capacity (such as 500, 3,000, 10,000) can be shared across all hubs with an assigned Advanced Video CMS (limited capacity) license.
- If you already exceed the 4-channel and 60-video threshold included in the Basic video CMS license, your published channels and videos will remain accessible during the grace period.

How do I purchase or manage Advanced Video CMS licenses?
Starting January 11, 2025, you can purchase one or more Advanced Video CMS licenses through our sales team. Purchased license(s) will appear in your web portal account and billing reports.
Advanced video CMS licenses are purchased at the account level. The Zoom Events admin can assign purchased licenses to specific hubs within the account. The Basic video CMS license does not require a separate purchase; it is automatically included with any paid Zoom Events or Sessions Unlimited (SaaS) license.
How much does the Advanced video CMS license cost?

Mixing and matching licenses
Account owners can assign advanced video CMS licenses to users in their account. However, the user receiving the license must have at least one paid Zoom Events and Sessions license to qualify for an Advanced Video CMS license.
The type of Video CMS license does not need to match the user’s Zoom Events and Sessions license. For example, an Annual recurring video CMS license can be attached to a Zoom Events Pay-Per-Attendee plan (Consumption), and a PrePay Video CMS license can be attached to a Zoom Events Unlimited plan (SaaS).
Note: At launch, a hub can only have one active Video CMS license at a time.
Managing licenses at the user level
You can assign and reassign Advanced Video CMS licenses to different users at any time, as needed.
Managing licenses at the hub level
To activate a Video CMS license, the user must assign it to a hub. Once assigned to a hub, an Advanced Video CMS license can be reassigned to other hubs.
Note: Stacking advanced credits in the shared pool is not dependent on license assignment and occurs immediately after purchase.
Reassigning licenses
Once an Advanced Video CMS license is reassigned, it can take effect immediately. Keep in mind that:
- The user or hub losing the license will no longer have access to the advanced features or the shared credit pool.
- The user or hub receiving the license will have access to advanced features and to the shared credit pool.
How will the grace period work?
The grace period starts on January 12, 2025 and lasts until the next renewal date of your Zoom Events and Sessions license. During the grace period, your video management features will remain unchanged, and you won't be charged for viewers watching your on-demand videos.
You can upgrade your video CMS license at any time. If you choose not to upgrade after your license renewal but still have an active Zoom Events Unlimited license (SaaS), you will have access to the Basic video CMS license.
How does Overage work?
Once your license runs out of credits, the account will be charged an overage fee per each additional unique viewer. Overage is enabled by default and available to all users with an active Advanced Video CMS license.
How do I enable or disable Overage?
- Sign in to Zoom Events as an account admin.
- In the top-left corner of the page, select Account.
- In the left navigation menu, click Add on licenses.
The Add on licenses page will appear containing tabs for Seats and Video CMS. - Next to Seats, click Video CMS.
The number and type of your video CMS licenses, along with a list of hubs, assigned licenses, and hub owners, will be displayed. - Under Unique Viewers, click the All hubs with assigned Video CMS license opt into Video-On-Demand overage checkbox to enable or disable overage.
Note: Overage can only be enabled for all your licenses and cannot be selectively enabled for specific licenses or users.
How unique views are metered?
One unique view consumes one credit. Unique views are counted as follows:
- Signed-in users: A signed-in user is counted as one unique viewer if they visit the webpage hosting the video and play at least one video. This type of unique view is counted once every 30-day period.
- Not signed-in users: Non-authenticated users are counted as one unique view when they visit and play a video. If they visit multiple times within a 30-day period on the same browser and device, it only counts as a single unique viewer.
Note: A non-authenticated user can be counted as more than one unique view if they use a different device, browser, or clear their browser’s cache and cookies. - Billing: Accounts are charged once per unique viewer within a 30-day period.
- When a unique viewer engages with content across multiple licenses from within the same account, the first video they engage with will determine which license is charged.
- However, if the viewer accesses content from different hubs across different accounts, each license will be charged separately for one unique view.
How do I check available credits for my Advanced video CMS license?
You can check detailed information on credit usage and balances for your account, including:
- Basic credits: Current balance, usage during the billing cycle, and any credits that expired within the cycle.
- Annual recurring or PrePay credits: You can check your credit balance at the start or end of the cycle, usage during the billing cycle, and credits that expired.
- Overage credits:
- Overage usage during the billing cycle
- Price per Overage credit
- Total charges for Overage credits during the cycle
Note: If you add a new Annual recurring (SaaS) license to your account on December 28, and your 30-day cycle resets on January 1, the credits for the new license will follow your account’s cycle, which starts on the 1st of each month. There is no proration; you will receive the full credits for the new license, regardless of when it was added. However, these credits will expire once the cycle ends, which is December 31.
On January 1, your credits will reset for the new cycle, and you’ll receive credits for all your Annual recurring (SaaS) licenses. Prepay (Consumption) licenses follow the same process, but their credits expire one year from the date they are added.
How do I cancel my Advanced video CMS license?
Note: Canceling an Advanced Video CMS license will remove it from the assigned user and hub immediately.
You can contact our sales team or your account executive at any time to cancel the plan, and the license will be canceled immediately. A license must be unassigned to be canceled. After you cancel your license:
- Credits from canceled licenses are immediately removed from the shared pool.
- No refund or other form of credit or payment of any kind will be issued for any unused or expired Video CMS credits.
- You will be charged for any credit usage that exceeds the license capacity.
When you purchase an Advanced video CMS license, your account's Basic capabilities will be upgraded to Advanced and you will receive both basic and advanced credits. Basic credits will be consumed first, followed by advanced credits (with the earliest expiration date). Overage will be used last.
- If you run out of credits and Overage is enabled (the default setting), your content will remain available to all viewers.
- If you run out of credits and Overage is disabled, your on-demand content will no longer be available to new viewers until your credits are refreshed, but existing viewers can still access content
