Using the Zoom Room Custom AV Controller app

The Zoom Rooms Custom AV Controller BETA app (CAVZRC) is a separate Zoom Room Controller intended to be used by AV integrators, installers, AV managers, IT, and production operators. With the introduction of additional inputs and outputs, this controller provides technical users with advanced AV controls, real-time room management, and remote multi-room pairing capabilities. This controller facilitates Zoom Room configuration when using NDI, Hardware I/O SDI, and Dante, and also provides a technician-focused interface for real-time control of the Custom AV outputs, for example in an auditorium or broadcast setting.

Requirements for Zoom Rooms Custom AV

Zoom Rooms Custom AV Controller (Beta)

Account owner, admin, or role with edit access to Zoom Rooms
Zoom Rooms for Windows 6.2.7 or higher
Zoom Rooms for Mac 6.2.7 or higher
A seperate Windows system to run the Zoom Rooms Custom AV Controller (CAVZRC) application. The CAVZRC app must be run on Windows 10 21H2 or higher.

Requirements for using Hardware I/O with Zoom Rooms

Zoom Rooms for Windows 6.3.5 or higher
Zoom Rooms for Mac 6.3.5 or higher
A Blackmagic Design Desktop Video device (e.g. DeckLink Quad/Duo 2, UltraStudio Monitor 3G, etc.)
Blackmagic Design Desktop Video 14.3 or higher installed on the Zoom Room device
Pro AV hardware input and output devices enabled in the Zoom web portal

Limitations of Custom AV Beta for Zoom Rooms

Custom AV for Zoom Rooms and the corresponding CAVZRC app are currently in beta. During this time, we do not recommend using the Custom AV inputs or outputs for mission-critical integrations or live production. In addition, please note the following limitations:

While Hardware I/O is enabled, HDMI content share will be disabled for the Zoom Room and vice versa.
You must log into the CAVZRC with each launch.
Dante Network Audio control is not currently available in the CAVZRC.
Some settings can only be selected or updated when connected to a meeting.
Overlay controls may require toggles to enable from their initial state.
Some configuration settings may not report correctly in ZDM.
In some cases, only a single Blackmagic Desktop Video product can be managed at a time via the CAVZRC.
Some CAVZRC menus must be closed and reopened to view changes.

How to download and install the app

Download the CAVZRC app from the Zoom Installers page.
Run the installer and follow the setup wizard to complete the installation of the CAVZRC on your computer.

How to authorize the app from the Zoom App Marketplace

The CAVZRC app must be added to your account through the Zoom App Marketplace in order to authorize the permissions and scopes for viewing your Zoom Rooms.

You will be directed to allow the app on your Zoom account when you first sign into your Zoom account through the app. You can also follow this link and view the app directly from the Zoom App Marketplace to see more details.

If you are unable to add the app, please work with your Zoom Account Admin to enable access. Review our article about Admin management of the Zoom App Marketplace.

How to prepare the Zoom Room for Custom AV I/O

Log in to the Zoom web portal.
Click on Room Management then click on Zoom Rooms.
You can use the Zoom Rooms location hierarchy to enable Custom AV features for the account, location, or room settings. In this example, click on Edit for the Zoom Room you want to configure.
Next, enable the following features or ensure that the Zoom Room is configured with these settings:
- Room type should be Zoom Rooms (for shared spaces).
- Enable Allow Multi-Camera Mode (No cameras need to be selected, this can be configured later).
- Enable Network audio devices to activate Dante I/O.
- Enable Pro AV hardware input and output devices BETA to enable Hardware I/O expansion devices.
- (Optional) Enable Meeting-HD Video Quality (1080p) if available on your account.
- Enable Allow Network Device Interface (NDI) usage, then review these sub-settings:
  - Separate audio embeds individual participant audio in the NDI stream.
  - Set NDI When Room is Online makes the NDI feeds persistent and discoverable even when the ZR is not in a meeting.
  - Frame rate and resolution can be configured here, but also through the CAVZRC.

How to use the Custom AV Zoom Room Controller

In the CAVZRC app, sign in using an account which has visibility to the Zoom Rooms on your account. Marketplace authorization is required for an account to use the controller and view available Zoom Rooms.
Click Pair Zoom Rooms and you will see a list of all available Zoom Rooms to pair. You can pair to multiple Zoom Rooms simultaneously.
After you have selected one or more rooms to pair to, click Add Rooms to pair.
You can unpair manually by clicking the Unpair button in the bottom left. You may keep quick access to the Zoom Room through the top tabs, or you can remove by clicking the X next to the tab.

Using Custom AV NDI Inputs and Outputs

NDI inputs appear as sources in the camera selection menu (bottom right of the interface). These are also visible in the Zoom Room web portal settings

To use NDI outputs, click on the Content dropdown for each of the 12 outputs to assign a content type. Some content types are only selectable within a meeting or webinar.
While in a meeting or webinar, you can select the Participant output type and then select a participant to assign to the NDI output.
While in a meeting or webinar, you can select the Gallery output type and then select a page to assign to the NDI output.

Using Custom AV Hardware Inputs and Outputs

Once you have enabled the web setting Enable Pro AV hardware input and output devices BETA, connected compatible devices will automatically appear in the CAVZRC as channels in the Hardware inputs and outputs table.
Configure each channel with the following settings:
- Mode - Select whether the channel should be an OUTPUT or INPUT.
- Content - Select the content type for the channel. More info on content types below.
- Video Selection (output) - Based on the content type, you may select additional parameters here. Specificparticipant, gallery page, screen share number, etc.)
- Video Selection (Input) - When the channel is configured as an input, then you must select which Hardware Virtual Camera the SDI input is mapped to. These correspond to the camera devices listed in the camera selection menu.
- The Select Participant button will open up a participant selection window with a searchable list of all participants and filters for role, video/audio status, etc.
- Resolution - This communicates with the Blackmagic drivers to configure the decklink device.
- Audio Mix - Select disabled, mix (of all meeting audio), or ISO (individual participant) to embed in the hardware output.

How to configure additional Custom AV Settings

In the CAVZRC app, click on Custom AV Settings in the top right.
Here, you may configure NDI, Hardware, Dante, and overlay settings.

How to uninstall from the App Marketplace

Log in to the App Marketplace web portal.
Click Manage and then click Added Apps.
Next to the Zoom Rooms Custom AV Controller app, click Remove.
