Exporting and importing content from Mural to Zoom Whiteboard

Users can migrate content from Mural to Zoom Whiteboard by exporting their Mural boards as PDF files, which can then be imported directly into Zoom Whiteboard. Once uploaded, they can select the imported PDF and extract its content using a Mural-optimized converter for an enhanced transition.

Zoom Whiteboard supports conversion of Text, Notes, Shapes, Connectors, Labels, Frames, and Images into fully editable components. Any other contents will be converted as shapes or images. For best results, it is recommended to organize your Mural content effectively before exporting to ensure a smooth conversion process.

How to export and import content from Mural to Zoom Whiteboard

Export board as PDF in Mural

  1. Sign in to Mural.
  2. Open your desired whiteboard.
  3. Open the board options.
  4. Select Download Mural.
  5. Select all the desired content and set the format to PDF.
  6. Click Download.

Import PDF into Zoom Whiteboard using bulk importer

  1. Create a new whiteboard in Zoom.
  2. Select Import from Mural from the dropdown menu.
  3. When prompted, select all the locally saved PDFs exported from Mural.
  4. Remain on the Whiteboard tab while all content is being converted.
    Once complete, a new whiteboard will be created for each uploaded Mural board, and the content from each PDF will be extracted within each whiteboard.

Import PDF into Zoom Whiteboard using individual file upload

  1. Create a new whiteboard in Zoom.
  2. In the left navigation, click the Upload icon  and select the PDF file you exported from Mural.
    Alternatively, drag the exported PDF onto the whiteboard in the Zoom desktop app.
  3. Select the imported PDF, then click the ellipsis icon to open more menu options.
  4. Click Extract content from then select Mural.
    The content importer will process the PDF and generate a frame for each page. Users can re-convert the Mural PDF to a Zoom Whiteboard by re-selecting the originally embedded PDF.
