Signing in to Zoom with a phone number

You can sign in to your Zoom account using your US phone number and an SMS code or account password. You may be prompted to add your phone number for sign-in purposes when signing in to your Zoom account or when signing up for a new Zoom account. If you do not want to add your phone number for signing in, you can choose to skip or not be asked again.

Adding a sign-in phone number will also simplify your Zoom Technical Support and Billing Support experience. Upon calling Zoom Technical Support, you can authenticate with your sign-in phone number, Meeting ID, or Host Key. When a Zoom Technical Support or Billing Agents answers your call, your phone call will be automatically linked to your email address, Zoom account ID, and previous tickets, helping you get straight to the problem at hand.

How to manage the sign-in phone number on your account

You may have the option to link your phone number for sign-in and account recovery when you are signing in to your Zoom account or when signing up for a new Zoom account. You can choose to add it now, or later in your Profile.

Add your phone number when signing in or signing up for a new account

  1. During the sign in or sign up process, enter your phone number when prompted.
  2. In the Verification code section, click Send.
    You will receive a text with a verification code to the phone number you entered.
  3. Enter the verification code, then click Add.
    You will receive a notification and email confirmation when the phone number is successfully added to your account for sign in. Once added, you can sign in to Zoom with your phone number.

Add the sign-in phone number in your Profile

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
  2. In the navigation menu, click Profile.
  3. In the Sign In section, to the right of Sign-In Phone Number, click Add.
    You will be prompted to verify your identity through password or email.
  4. To verify your identity, do one of the following:
    1. Enter your Zoom account password, then click Next.
    2. Click Try another way, then select Email verification to receive a verification code sent to your email. Enter the verification code when prompted, then click Next.
  5. Enter your phone number, then click Next.
  6. Enter the verification code sent to the phone number, then click Confirm.
    You will receive a notification and email confirmation when the phone number is successfully added to your account for sign in. Once added, you can sign in to Zoom with your phone number.

Update the sign-in phone number

Note: You can only change your sign-in phone number twice per year.

  1. Sign in to your Zoom account.
  2. In the navigation menu, click Profile.
  3. In the Sign In section, to the right of Sign-In Phone Number, click Edit.
  4. To verify your identity, do one of the following:
    1. Enter your Zoom account password, then click Next.
    2. Click Try another way, then select Email verification to receive a verification code through your email. Enter the verification code when prompted, then click Next.
    3. Click Try another way, then select SMS verification to receive a verification code through your sign-in phone number, then click Next.
  5. Enter a different phone number, then click Next.
  6. Enter the verification code sent to the phone number, then click Confirm.
    You will receive a notification and email confirmation when the phone number is successfully added to your account for sign in. Once added, you can sign in to Zoom with your phone number. After changing your phone number, you'll be signed out from all other sessions except the current session.

Remove the sign-in phone number

If you remove your sign-in phone number from your Zoom account, you won't be able to use it to sign in or recover your account. You will be signed out from all other sessions, including the current session. If you've already changed your phone number twice this year and choose to remove it, you'll need to wait one year to add a new one.

  1. Sign in to your Zoom account.
  2. In the navigation menu, click Profile.
  3. In the Sign In section, to the right of Sign-In Phone Number, click Remove. 
  4. In the pop-up window, review the details, then click Remove.
  5. To verify your identity, do one of the following:
    1. Enter your Zoom account password, then click Next.
    2. Click Try another way, then select Email verification to receive a verification code through your email. Enter the verification code when prompted, then click Next.
    3. Click Try another way, then select SMS verification to receive a verification code through your sign-in phone number, then click Next.
      Upon removal, you will be signed out and returned to the Sign in page.

How to sign in to Zoom with a phone number

After you've added a phone number to your account for signing in, you can use it to sign in to the Zoom web portal, Zoom Workplace desktop or mobile app, the Zoom Web app, and more.

  1. When prompted to enter your email or phone number on the Zoom sign in page, enter your phone number.
  2. Click Next.
    Note: If the phone number is not associated with a Zoom account, you will receive an error. Enter a valid email address instead.
  3. Enter your password, or click Code sign-in to receive a verification code through your sign-in phone number.
  4. Click Sign in.
