Troubleshooting Zoom Meetings PMI in Salesforce (Zoom for Lightning)
The Zoom for Lightning Salesforce app allows you to manage Zoom meetings directly within Salesforce. When using PMI for meetings, you may encounter the error message "Start Zoom meeting failed. The Start URL is incorrect!" This error can occur for several reasons:
- An active PMI meeting is running in the background
- The meeting object status hasn't been updated to indicate that the meeting ended
- The user lacks the Zoom Meeting User permission
- The account has reached its API rate limit
This article explains how to troubleshoot common issues when using Personal Meeting ID (PMI) for meetings.
How to troubleshoot PMI meeting issues
Try these solutions in order:
- If you have a meeting running in the background:
- Locate the minimized Zoom meeting window.
- Click the End button to officially end the meeting.
This triggers a webhook to update the meeting object in Salesforce.
- If no meeting is running:
- Access the meeting object in Salesforce.
- Click the start URL to start the meeting.
- Click the End button.
- If no meeting is running, and solution 2 did not work, update the meeting object status:
- Locate the meeting object in Salesforce.
- Change the Zoom Status field to Completed.
- Verify user permissions:
- Ensure the user has the Zoom Meeting user permission assigned.
- If none of the above solutions work, disable PMI for scheduled meetings:
- Access the Zoom User Config page.
- Disable PMI Enabled For Scheduled Meeting.
Note: If none of the above solutions work, you may have reached the API rate limit. Wait until the next API refresh at midnight UTC.
How to access the meeting object
- Click the App Launcher icon (9-dot) in Salesforce.
- Search for and select Zoom Meetings.
- Search for the affected user's PMI.
- Apply the solution steps above.
Note: You can optionally delete entries with blank "Zoom Meeting id", "Join Url", and "Start Url" fields that were created after the most recent meeting with an "Open" status.
