Enabling or disabling the efficiency mode for Windows
Users with lower-end Windows machines can enable efficiency mode to optimize their Zoom experience. This mode automatically:
- Turns on hardware acceleration for sending and receiving video
- Limits max send & receive & capture video to 360p 30fps
- Limits max share send & capture to 1080p 5fps, limit max share receive to 5fps
- Disables video share (optimize for video clip)
Efficiency mode is designed to provide reliable audio, stable video, and smoother content sharing on devices with limited resources. Account owners and admins can manage this setting in the Web portal at the account or group levels. If allowed within the account and not locked under the account or group levels, users can control this setting in the Zoom Workplace app.

How to enable or disable efficiency mode for Windows
Account
To enable or disable efficiency mode for Windows for all users in the account:
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit account settings.
- In the navigation menu, click Account Management then Account Settings.
- Click the Meeting tab.
- Under In Meeting (Advanced), click the Turn on efficiency mode toggle to enable or disable it.
- If a verification dialog appears, click Enable or Disable to verify the change.
- (Optional) To prevent all users in the group from changing this setting, click the lock icon
, and then click Lock to confirm the setting.
Group
To enable or disable efficiency mode for Windows for a group of users:
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit groups.
- In the navigation menu, click User Management then Groups.
- Click the applicable group name from the list.
- Click the Meeting tab.
- Under In Meeting (Advanced), click the Turn on efficiency mode toggle to enable or disable it.
- If a verification dialog appears, click Enable or Disable to verify the change.
Note: If the option is grayed out, it has been locked at the account level and needs to be changed at that level. - (Optional) To prevent all users in the group from changing this setting, click the lock icon

Zoom Workplace App
To enable or disable efficiency mode for Windows for personal use:
- Sign in to the Zoom desktop app.
- Click your profile picture, then click Settings.
- Click Meeting & webinar then Advanced.
- Under the Performance section, click the Turn on efficiency mode toggle to enable or disable it.
