Using Asana within ZoomMate

You can use ZoomMate to quickly generate and assign new Asana tasks, and search for existing ones using natural language prompts. This enables project collaboration to continue without switching platforms, helping teams stay aligned and productive on tasks directly within Zoom.

You can also use Asana with Zoom Chat.

How to connect Asana with ZoomMate

  1. Sign in to the Zoom desktop app.
  2. In the navigation bar, click the ZoomMate tab .
    Note: If you do not see the ZoomMate tab , click the More tab, then click ZoomMate .
  3. In the chat box, click the add icon  .
  4. Under Connectors, search for or enable Asana.
Web
  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
  2. In the top-right corner, click the Zoom Products icon .
  3. In the Zoom Products menu, click AI Companion.
    AI Companion will open in a new browser tab.
  4. In the chat box, click the add icon  .
  5. Under Connectors, search for or enable Asana.

How to disconnect the Asana app

  1. Sign in to the Zoom App Marketplace as an account admin or owner.
  2. In the top-right corner, click Manage.
  3. In the navigation menu, click Added apps, then Asana for Zoom.
  4. Click Connections.
  5. Click the ellipsis icon , then Disconnect.

Note: Asana app configuration data is deleted automatically when you remove the Asana app from the Zoom App Marketplace.

How to create Asana tasks with ZoomMate

  1. Launch ZoomMate.
  2. In the chat box, type /asana to see the available skills, or type a request such as Create a task.
    Note: A task name and project title are required to create an Asana task.
  3. (Optional) Include a meeting name, transcript, or topic in the same prompt to help ZoomMate prefill task details.
  4. Once the task is created, a confirmation task receipt will display the following:
  5. Task Name.
  6. Project title.
  7. A link to the task in Asana.
  8. An Edit option.
  9. (Optional) Click Edit to modify the task, then do the following:
  10. Enter a Task Name.
  11. Enter a Project title.
  12. (Optional) Enter a Project Section.
  13. (Optional) Select an Assignee.
  14. (Optional) Set a Due Date.
  15. (Optional) Enter a Description.
  16. Click Create.

How to search Asana tasks using ZoomMate

  1. Launch ZoomMate.
  2. In the chat box, type /asana to see the available skills or type a phrase such as Show me all Asana tasks about [topic].
  3. A list of matching task titles will display in the side panel, each with its task number and a link to open the task in Asana.
  4. (Optional) To update a task, refer to it by title or task number in a follow-up prompt.
    Note: If a task is not already referenced, ZoomMate will request the task number.
