Using Box within AI Companion
AI Companion's Box integration enables you to manage Box files directly from the AI Companion panel without switching between applications. You can find, share, and collaborate on digital files including documents, photos, and videos stored in Box.
You can also use Box with Zoom Team Chat.

How to connect Box with AI Companion
- Sign in to the Zoom desktop app.
- Click the Home tab or click the AI Companion icon
from your active tab. - In the Write a message or type / for more field, click the add icon
. - Click the My Apps tab then Box.
Note: Authorizing the Box app allows AI Companion to access your Box files, folders, and associated metadata.
How to disconnect the Box app
- Sign in to the Zoom App Marketplace as an account admin or owner.
- In the top-right corner, click Manage.
- In the navigation menu, click Added apps, then Box.
- Click Connections.
- Click the ellipsis icon
, then Disconnect.
Note: Box app configuration data is deleted automatically when you remove the Box app from the Zoom App Marketplace.
How to find Box files
- Open the AI Companion panel in your Zoom desktop client.
- Use natural language to ask AI Companion to find files. For example: "Find all PDF files updated in the last week" “What are the files containing “x” from the last 3 months?”
Note: AI Companion can search for specific file types including PDF, PowerPoint, and other common document formats.
How to share Box files
- Ask AI Companion to share a specific file. For example: "Share the quarterly report with my team"
- Specify the sharing permissions when prompted:
- Company: Only people within your organization
- Open: Anyone with the link
- Collaborators: Only invited users
- Set additional sharing options:
- Password protection (optional)
- Link expiration date (optional)
- Download permissions
- View permissions
Note: If you don't have sufficient permissions to share a file, AI Companion will notify you and provide options to request access.
How your data is used
Zoom's Box app marketplace app allows Zoom Communications Inc. access to your Box files, folders, and associated metadata. To do so, you'll need to share Box permissions. The permissions you'll share with Zoom Communications Inc. include:
- Access Box content: Zoom Communications Inc. will have permission to access your Box files and folders, including file names, file contents, and collaboration metadata. Zoom Communications Inc. will also have permissions to update sharing permissions on files you own or have access to.
By authorizing this connection, the Box app maintains ongoing access to your information.
