Managing phone number capabilities in Number Management
Account owners and admins can manage the capabilities of individual phone numbers, including enabling or disabling incoming calls, outgoing calls, and fax. This allows you to tailor each number for specific purposes, such as dedicating a number solely for fax, directly from the Number Management page in the Zoom web portal.
Adjusting these settings can affect how numbers appear on the Zoom Phone dialpad and whether they can be used as a caller ID for certain extensions.

How to assign a dedicated Online Fax number
Account owners and admins can designate specific phone numbers exclusively for faxing purposes through the Online Fax service. When selecting numbers in Number Management, admins are shown which numbers are fax-capable and which are not. The system performs several automatic checks before allowing a number to be assigned for faxing:
- Phone number capability check: Verifies that the number is fax-enabled (default for most countries except India and Japan).
- Policy check: Confirms that the Online Fax policy is enabled.
- Billing check: Confirms that the destination number’s country is enabled under billing.
Assign a dedicated Online Fax number
You can dedicate a phone number for Online Fax by disabling both the Incoming Call and Outgoing Call checkboxes in Number Management.
When a number is dedicated to only fax capabilities, it will appear with a No voice capability notice on the Zoom Phone dialpad.
