Using the Viewers tab in VOD analytics
The Viewers tab in VOD analytics helps hosts understand viewer engagement and behavior across videos in a video channel. It provides insights into how audiences interact with content, allowing hosts to identify viewing patterns, top viewers, and engagement trends without needing to download separate reports.

Requirements for managing the Viewers tab in VOD analytics
Note: To access the latest Zoom Webinars Plus and Events features, the complete VOD CMS experience, and the ability to create multiple video channels, hosts must update to the most recent version of the Zoom desktop or mobile app and ensure their account has the Advanced video CMS license.
How to access the VOD Analytics Viewers tab
- Create a video channel or edit a video channel.
You will be directed to the video channel setup. - In the channel setup's left navigation menu, click Analytics.
- At the top of the page, under Channel Analytics, click the Viewers tab.

Metric tiles
At the top of the Viewers tab, view six metric tiles that summarize viewer engagement across all videos in the channel. These metrics help hosts understand how many people are watching, how often they return, and how deeply they engage with the videos.
- One time viewers: Number of unique viewers who have only watched one video in the channel.
- Returning viewers: Number of viewers who have watched up to four videos in the channel.
- Engaged viewers: Number of unique viewers who have watched five or more videos in the channel.
- Viewers watched on average: Percentage of videos per person averaged across the channel, showing how much of the available content viewers typically watch.
- Average videos watched: Average number of unique videos watched across all viewers.
- Video completion rate: Average rate at which videos are completed to 95%, representing the percentage of viewers who watch entire videos.
Tables, graphs, and charts
Below the metric tiles, view the following information:
Top viewers
This table displays a ranked list of the most active viewers in the channel, helping hosts identify users who engage the most with video content. It shows up to 20 viewers based on the selected metric. By default, the table ranks the top 20 viewers by total watch time.
Perform the following actions in the Top viewers table:
- Tooltip: In the top-left corner, click the information icon
to view a description of the chart. - Time period: In the top-right corner, use the dropdown
to change the chart’s display interval. The following options are available:
- Last 7 days
- Last 4 weeks
- Last 3 months
- Last 6 months
- Change ranking metric: In the top-right corner, use the dropdown
to select how viewers are ranked. The following options are available:
- Total watch-time: Sum of all watch time for that viewer across all videos.
- Average watch time: Average amount of watch time per video for that viewer.
- Average watch (%): Average percentage of each video watched, indicating how much of the videos the viewer typically watches.
- Total video views: Total number of times the viewer has watched videos, including repeat views of the same video.
- Videos completed: Number of videos the viewer has watched to at least 95% completion.
- Export/download: In the top-right corner, click the download icon
to download a CSV report. The downloaded CSV contains data for the top 10 viewers in order of the selected ranking metric. The export includes all available metrics from the dropdown
:
- Total watch-time
- Average watch time
- Average watch (%)
- Total video views
- Videos completed
Viewer breakdown
The Viewer breakdown chart displays the total number of unique viewers segmented into three categories: New, Returning, and Engaged viewers within the selected date range. This helps hosts understand the composition of their audience and how engagement evolves over time.
- New viewers: First-time viewers of your channel.
- Returning viewers: Viewers who have previously watched a video before the selected date range.
- Engaged viewers: Viewers who have watched more than 5 unique videos.
Perform the following actions in the Viewer breakdown table:
- Tooltip: In the top-left corner, click the information icon
to view a description of the chart. - Time period: In the top-right corner, use the dropdown
to change the chart’s display interval. The following options are available:
- Last 7 days
- Last 4 weeks
- Last 3 months
- Last 6 months
- Export/download: In the top-right corner, click the download icon
to download a CSV report. The downloaded CSV includes viewer engagement data for the selected time period, containing:
- Viewer ID (or cookie ID if unauthenticated)
- Viewer status (New, Returning, Engaged, or Power viewer)
- Total watch time
- Number of unique videos watched
- Lifetime unique videos watched
- First view date
- Last view date
Viewer retention
This chart helps hosts understand where viewers stay engaged or drop off, showing which parts of videos are most or least watched. It can be viewed in two modes:
- Across all videos view: This view displays average watch behavior across all qualifying videos in the channel. Includes videos with at least 10 views.
- X-axis: Percentage of video watched (displayed in 10% increments; calculated per 1%).
- Y-axis: Percentage of unique viewers who watched up to that point.
- Per video view: This view displays viewer retention for one or multiple selected videos.
- X-axis: Duration of the video (in minutes or percentage, depending on configuration).
- Y-axis: Number of viewers watching at each point in the video.
- Multiple video selection: When multiple videos are selected, each video displays a separate line showing its retention trend.
Perform the following actions in the Viewer retention by video and Viewer retention across all videos chart:
- Tooltip: In the top-left corner, click the information icon
to view a description of the chart. - Time period: In the top-right corner, use the dropdown
to change the chart’s display interval. The following options are available:
- Last 7 days
- Last 4 weeks
- Last 3 months
- Last 6 months
- Export/download: In the top-right corner, click the download icon
to download a CSV report. The downloaded CSV includes retention data for the selected view and time range, containing: - Video title
- Chart view type (Per video view or Across all videos view)
- Timestamp (or percentage watched)
- Number of viewers at each point
- Average viewer percentage (for Across all videos view only)
Registrations
This table displays detailed information about viewers who registered for access to the channel’s videos. It helps hosts understand their audience demographics, roles, and engagement details. All values in the table are derived from the registration form submitted by each viewer.
Perform the following actions in the Registrations table:
- Tooltip: In the top-left corner, click the information icon
to view a description of the table. - Sorting: To the right of a column header, click the sort icon
to reorder the table rows by that column. Click once to sort in ascending order (such as A to Z or smallest to largest), and click again to switch to descending order. A visual indicator (like an arrow) appears beside the header to show the current sort direction. - Filtering columns: In the top right corner, click Filters
to filter the table contents according to your preferences. The following default columns are available:
- Name: Full name of the registrant as entered in the registration form.
- Email: Email address used for registration.
- Authentication status: Indicates whether the registrant authenticated their Zoom account when registering.
- Registration date: The date and time when the registrant completed the registration form.
- Role: The registrant’s professional role or position.
- Job title: The title or designation provided by the registrant.
- Company: Name of the registrant’s organization or employer.
- Industry: The industry category the registrant’s company belongs to.
- Organization: The organization name entered during registration (if different from company).
- Organization size: The total number of employees or scale of the organization.
- Address: Street address provided by the registrant.
- City: City associated with the registrant’s address.
- State: State or province of the registrant’s location.
- Country/Region: Country or region where the registrant is based.
- Zip/Postal code: Postal code corresponding to the registrant’s address.
- Phone: Contact phone number provided by the registrant.
- Registration questions: Custom questions answered by the registrant during the registration process.
- Registration comments: Additional comments or notes submitted by the registrant.
- Export/download: In the top-right corner, click the download icon
to download a CSV report. The CSV includes all displayed columns and their corresponding registration form values. - Page navigation: At the bottom of the table, click next
or previous
to move between pages of results. To jump directly to a specific page, click its number.
Viewers
This table displays detailed information about all viewers who have watched videos in the channel. It helps hosts understand viewer activity, engagement behavior, and viewing frequency across all videos. Each row represents a unique viewer and summarizes their watch activity.
Perform the following actions in the Viewers table:
- Tooltip: In the top-left corner, click the information icon
to view a description of the table. - Sorting: To the right of a column header, click the sort icon
to reorder the table rows by that column. Click once to sort in ascending order (such as A to Z or smallest to largest), and click again to switch to descending order. A visual indicator (like an arrow) appears beside the header to show the current sort direction. - Filtering columns: In the top right corner, click Filters
to filter the table contents according to your preferences. The following default columns are available:
- Name: The viewer’s entered name.
- Email: The email address of the viewer.
- Authentication status: Indicates whether the registrant authenticated their Zoom account when registering.
- Total video views: Total number of times the viewer watched videos in the channel.
- Videos watched: Number of distinct videos the viewer has watched.
- First activity date: The date when the viewer first watched a video in the channel.
- Last activity date: The most recent date when the viewer watched a video in the channel.
- Total watch time: Sum of all watch time for the viewer across all videos.
- Average watch-time: Average amount of time the viewer spends watching each video.
- Average completion rate: Average percentage of each video the viewer completes.
- Total comments: The total number of comments the viewer has posted across all videos in the channel.
- Total poll responses: The total number of poll responses the viewer has submitted across all videos.
- Total Q&A questions asked: The total number of questions the viewer has submitted through Q&A.
- Total reactions used: The total number of emoji reactions the viewer has used while watching videos.
- Resource document downloads: The total number of resource files the viewer has downloaded from videos in the channel.
- Export/download: In the top-right corner, click the download icon
to download a CSV report. The CSV includes all displayed viewer records and their corresponding viewing metrics.
Zoom Webinars Plus and Events VOD Channel analytics has been redesigned for greater clarity and smoother navigation. The new experience is active by default, but if you prefer, switch back to legacy analytics by clicking the Switch to legacy analytics toggle at the top of Channel analytics. You can switch back and forth as desired at any time.
