Enabling or disabling Zoom Phone Push to Talk live transcription
Account owners and admins can control the availability of the Push to Talk live transcription feature through admin settings, with the option disabled by default for all channel members, including users and common area devices. English-only captioning is available at this time. This feature ensures inclusive communication across PTT channels and enhances productivity for all team members regardless of audio limitations.
When enabled, users can enable speech-to-text captions on their mobile devices to read Push to Talk (PTT) audio messages as translated text, providing accessibility support for users with hearing challenges or in noisy environments.

Requirements for enabling or disabling Zoom Phone Push to Talk live transcription
- Either a Zoom Workplace license with Phone included, or a standalone Zoom Phone calling plan
- Account owner or admin privileges
- Zoom Phone role to configure Push to Talk settings
How to enable or disable Zoom Phone Push to Talk live transcription
Account
To enable or disable Push to Talk live transcription for all users in the account:
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit account settings.
- In the navigation menu, click Account Management then Account Settings.
- Click the Zoom Phone tab.
- Under General, click the Push to Talk live transcription toggle to enable or disable it.
- If a verification dialog appears, click Enable or Disable to verify the change.
- (Optional) To prevent all users in your account from changing this setting, click the lock icon
, and then click Lock to confirm the setting.
Site
To enable or disable Push to Talk live transcription for a site:
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit sites.
- In the navigation menu, click Phone System Management then Company Info.
- Click the applicable site name from the list.
- Click the Policy tab.
- Under General, click the Push to Talk live transcription toggle to enable or disable it.
- If a verification dialog appears, click Enable or Disable to verify the change.
Note: If the option is grayed out, it has been locked at the account level and needs to be changed at that level. - (Optional) To prevent all users in the group from changing this setting, click the lock icon
, and then click Lock to confirm the setting.
Push to Talk channel
To enable or disable Push to Talk live transcription for a Push to Talk channel:
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit Push to Talk channels.
- In the navigation menu, click Phone System Management then Push to Talk.
- Click the applicable channel name from the list.
- Click the Policy tab.
- Under General, click the Push to Talk live transcription toggle to enable or disable it.
- If a verification dialog appears, click Enable or Disable to verify the change.
Note: If the option is grayed out, it has been locked at the account or site level and needs to be changed at that level.
