Passkey sign-in is a passwordless authentication method that replaces traditional passwords with cryptographic key pairs. This feature provides a more secure and user-friendly way to access your Zoom account using biometric authentication like Face ID, fingerprint, or device PIN. Passkeys are designed to be phishing-resistant and eliminate the need to remember passwords or go through password reset processes.
Requirements for passkey sign-in
Pro, Business, Enterprise and Education
Owner or Admin with edit privilege
Zoom account with verified email address or phone number
Device with biometric authentication capabilities (Face ID, fingerprint scanner) or secure PIN
Compatible web browser, mobile app, or desktop app
(Optional) Cloud storage service for passkey sync (iCloud Keychain, Google Password Manager, or Windows Hello)
Note: Linux users can use existing passkeys created on Windows or macOS devices through hardware keys, but cannot create new passkeys directly on Linux systems due to platform limitations.
Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an owner or admin with edit privileges.
In the navigation menu, click Advanced, then Security.
Under Sign-in Methods, toggle on Allow users to sign in with passkey.
(Optional) Under Sign-in with two-factor authentication, then Authentication methods, enable Passkeys.
Note: Signing in with a passkey does not require a separate two-factor authentication step because passkeys already meet two-factor security standards.
