Using the Zoom for ChatGPT app
The Zoom for ChatGPT app brings Zoom’s meeting information and assets directly into ChatGPT. This allows users to access summaries, transcripts, recordings, and documents from their completed meetings, and ask questions to quickly locate the exact moment a topic was discussed in a meeting recording. Users can also generate agendas, capture notes, identify action items, and follow up using the transcript, summary, and shared materials.
Requirements for using the Zoom for ChatGPT app
- A Licensed user on a Zoom Workplace Pro, Zoom Workplace Pro Plus, Zoom Workplace Business, Zoom Workplace Business Plus, Zoom Workplace Enterprise, Zoom Workplace Enterprise Plus, or Enterprise Bundle account
- A Zoom account owner or admin with privileges
- A ChatGPT account
- One or more of the following AI Companion features need to be enabled:
Limitations for using the Zoom for ChatGPT app
- Due to the app being dependent on the AI Companion features Smart Recording and Meeting summary, if one or neither of these features is enabled, the app may have limited functionality.
- A user can only access meeting assets and/or recordings when both of the following are true:
- AI Companion meeting transcription/summaries and/or smart recording features have been enabled for use with those meeting assets and recordings.
- The user has hosted the meeting or been granted access to those meeting assets and recordings by the meeting host.
- For video-based features of the Zoom app in ChatGPT, meetings must be recorded to the cloud using smart recording.
How to add the Zoom for ChatGPT app
- Sign in to ChatGPT.
- Click your name, then click Settings.
- Click Apps & Connectors.
- Click Zoom.
- Click Connect.
You will be redirected to the Zoom for ChatGPT page of the Zoom Marketplace. - In the top right of your screen, click Add.
- Confirm the required app permissions and click Allow.
- Once redirected back to the ChatGPT site, complete the authorization of the app.
How to use the Zoom for ChatGPT app
Launching the app in ChatGPT
- Sign in to ChatGPT.
- In the ChatGPT text box, click the Add
icon. - Click More.
- Click Zoom.
Once launched, users can begin chatting with ChatGPT for review and manage their Zoom meetings and meeting assets.
In addition to launching the app using the steps above, users can use the app by mentioning the app with @Zoom in their prompt, or by typing the backslash (/) followed by the Zoom name, for example:
- ”/Zoom, can you provide a recap of the meeting from this afternoon?”
- ”@Zoom, can you provide a recap of the meeting from this afternoon?”
Example prompts and responses
Once Zoom for ChatGPT has been launched in ChatGPT, users can begin using ChatGPT to manage their workload with Zoom. Below are example prompts to begin managing meetings and potential action items from your meetings. Once a question has been answered, users can follow up with additional questions or requests as well. In addition to responses when asking about a meeting, any linked meeting assets that the user has access to will also be accessible within the ChatGPT dialog, including any related docs, files, transcripts, and recordings.

A summary of what Sarah mentioned in the meeting will be summarized from the meeting transcript.
In addition, if there were multiple meetings where Sarah mentioned KPIs, the user will be prompted to select a meeting instance before being given a summary.

If the user has access to the Cloud Recording, an embedded player will be displayed, and the player will automatically position the timestamp to when the blockers were discussed.
Additionally, if there were multiple instances, the user would be prompted to select which instance they want to view.

ChatGPT will confirm if the user wants to create a new Zoom Doc with the action items. Once the user clicks Create, a Zoom Doc will be generated containing a list of action items.

How to remove the Zoom for ChatGPT app
- Log in to the App Marketplace web portal.
- Click Manage and then click Added Apps.
- Next to the Zoom for ChatGPT, click Remove.
Data Security
- This app stores access credentials in the local data store:
- ChatGPT API tokens and Zoom OAuth credentials (both user-level only) are stored in an encrypted database.
How your data is used
This app accesses and uses the following information from your Zoom account:
- View a user's meetings [meeting:read:list_meetings]: The app utilizes a user's meeting information for meeting-based prompts, as well as generating agendas or other meeting assets that can be attached to a meeting.
- Past meeting instances [meeting:read:list_past_instances]: The app utilizes the user's meeting information for meeting-based prompts, as well as searching and retrieving related meeting assets, including files, transcripts, and Cloud Recordings.
- Meeting assets [meeting:read:assets]: The app utilizes meeting assets for previous and upcoming meetings for meeting insights and contextual recall.
- Search Meetings [meeting:read:search]: The app utilizes meeting search when retrieving information for meeting insights and contextual recall, or generating new assets for meetings.
- Cloud recording [cloud_recording:read:recording]: The app utilizes cloud recording information when retrieving recordings or clips for meeting insights and contextual recall.
- Cloud recording content [cloud_recording:read:content]: The app utilizes cloud recording content for generating summaries and contextual recall for previous meetings.
- Zoom Docs [docs:write:import]: The app utilizes access to Zoom Docs to generate contextual meeting materials and agendas.
