Advance Notice: Zoom Rooms to End Support for Windows 10 Retail/GAC
Zoom plans to discontinue support for the Windows 10 Retail/GAC operating system, the last supported version is expected in September 2026. After that release, the Zoom Rooms app will no longer receive updates on Windows 10 Retail. Organizations and individuals still running Windows 10 Retail should prepare to upgrade to a supported Windows OS (such as Windows 11) before that date.

What Should You Do?
- Check your operating system
Confirm whether your PC is running Windows 10 (64-bit):
- Go to Settings → System → About and look under Edition / Version.
- If it still shows Windows 10 Retail, your device is slated to lose support soon.
- The support timeline for Windows 10 IoT LTSC will be provided early next year.
- Upgrade your operating system
To continue using Zoom Rooms with full support, upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 (or another supported OS):
- OS upgrades often require hardware compatibility checks (e.g. TPM, CPU, firmware).
- Engage with your IT team or your device vendor to assess and execute the transition.
- Plan ahead for the changeover
Because OS upgrades are more complex than application updates, Zoom suggests starting early on the following:
- Inventory all devices currently on Windows 10.
- Test Zoom Rooms functionality in your new OS environment.
- Schedule user migrations, data backups, and training well before September 2026.
Why This Change?
Zoom maintains a policy of supporting current, secure, and modern operating systems to provide quality, stability, and security for its users. As Microsoft phases out support and patches for Windows 10, Zoom will align its app support accordingly, on a commercially best-effort basis.
Definitions
The terms described below are used in these guidelines:
- End-of-support date: the date that the device will no longer be supported by Zoom on the Zoom platform, and may no longer be able to connect to Zoom services. On this date, the device may no longer be able to function with the Zoom platform.
- Zoom Software Quarterly Lifecycle Policy: Please see Zoom Software Quarterly Lifecycle Policy. Selected summary for convenient reference: Zoom requires users and developers to update to at least a new minimum version of Zoom software that is updated by Zoom every three (3) months (usually the first weekend of February, May, August, and November). For each new enforced minimum version, Zoom will also identify and provide the next version of software that Zoom plans to enforce and the start date of that enforcement. In general, absent a security update or update required by law, Zoom will make an effort to support a given version of the applicable Zoom application for at least fifteen (15) months before it is considered for end-of-support, at which point customers/users will be prompted to update to the minimum version or higher. For more details, see Zoom Software Quarterly Lifecycle Policy.
- Final Zoom software release: The then-current Zoom software release available on the last day of the End-of-Life support period would become the Final Zoom software release for the device. Afterwards, the product will no longer be eligible for future Zoom software releases other than software support for critical bug and security fixes, as described in the guidelines. The Final Zoom software release for a particular device will eventually reach end-of-life based on the Zoom Software Quarterly Lifecycle Policy.
- Final Zoom software release date: The date on which the Final Zoom software release is released by Zoom.
