After an account owner or admin has issued an eSIM for users' Zoom Phone Mobile service, users can scan the QR code with their camera app or by accessing their device's SIM management settings. If users cannot install the eSIM by scanning the QR code, they can also install it manually by entering the codes in their device settings.
With an activated Zoom Phone Mobile package, users can use their assigned Zoom Phone business number directly on their compatible smartphone, allowing them to make and receive business calls through the phone’s native dialer. Incoming calls can ring simultaneously across all registered Zoom Phone endpoints, so users never miss a call, regardless of the device they are using. Users can also place outbound calls from any endpoint while maintaining the same business identity. This setup helps keep personal and business communications separate, while still providing access to Zoom Phone features such as voicemail, presence updates, call transfer, and call recording.
Zoom Phone Mobile numbers can only be assigned to Zoom Phone users and cannot be used by other products.
SMS and MMS are not supported by the mobile device's native messaging app. The Zoom Workplace mobile app will have messaging in read-only mode, but users cannot send messages from the Zoom Workplace mobile app due to iOS and Android ecosystem restrictions.
Advanced Zoom Phone features are accessed through the Zoom Workplace mobile app, not the phone's native dialer.
After an account owner or admin issues an eSIM for their users' Zoom Phone Mobile service, an activation email containing the following information will be automatically sent to their users:
QR code for eSIM installation
Manual activation codes (if QR code scanning isn't possible)
Installation instructions
Note: QR codes are single-use only. Once scanned and installed, the QR code becomes invalid.
How to install and activate Zoom Phone Mobile eSIM
Use the QR code to activate the eSIM
Manually activate the eSIM
If you cannot install the eSIM by scanning the QR code, you can install it manually by entering the code in your device settings.
Note: The code will expire once the user activates it.
How to generate new QR codes
Users can generate a new QR code when upgrading devices (without losing the device).
Note: This option is only for device upgrades where the user can remove the eSIM from the old device. For lost devices, use the New eSIM option instead, which is an option only available for admins to issue a new eSIM for the user.
How to confirm and switch eSIM numbers
For proper operation of the mobile line and Zoom Workplace mobile app, you must confirm which mobile device has the Zoom Phone Mobile eSIM line installed and which number you're using. After you have installed the eSIM on a device, follow these steps in the Zoom Workplace mobile app installed on the same device and select the mobile eSIM number on the device.
Notes:
If you cancel this step, you can manage it later by accessing the Choose Zoom Phone mobile number settings.
To switch numbers, you can use and follow these steps.
