Enabling or disabling Zoom Phone call delegation
Account owners and admins can allow users to use delegation. Call delegation (also known as shared line appearance) provides an easy way for phone users to assign others to handle calls on their behalf.

Requirements for enabling or disabling call delegation for Zoom Phone
- Either a Zoom Workplace license (with Phone included), or a standalone Zoom Phone calling plan
- Account owner or admin privileges
How to enable or disable call delegation
Account
This setting allows account owners or admins to enable or disable Delegation for all users in the account.
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit account settings.
- In the navigation menu, click Account Management then Account Settings.
- Click the Zoom Phone tab.
- Under General, click the Delegation toggle to enable or disable it.
- If a verification dialog displays, click Enable or Disable to verify the change.
- (Optional) To prevent all users in your account from changing this setting, click the lock icon
, and then click Lock to confirm the setting.
Group
This setting allows account owners or admins to enable or disable Delegation for a specific group of users. Changes apply only to users in the selected group.
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit groups.
- In the navigation menu, click User Management then Groups.
- Click the applicable group name from the list.
- Click the Zoom Phone tab.
- Under General, click the Delegation toggle to enable or disable it.
- If a verification dialog displays, click Enable or Disable to verify the change.
Note: If the option is grayed out, it has been locked at the account level and needs to be changed at that level. - (Optional) To prevent all users in the group from changing this setting, click the lock icon
, and then click Lock to confirm the setting.
Site
This setting allows account owners or admins to enable or disable Delegation for a specific site. Changes apply only to users in the selected site.
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit sites.
- In the navigation menu, click Phone System Management then Company Info.
- Click the applicable site name from the list.
- Click the Policy tab.
- Under General, click the Delegation toggle to enable or disable it.
- If a verification dialog displays, click Enable or Disable to verify the change.

Phone user
This setting allows account owners or admins to enable or disable Delegation for a specific phone user in the account. Changes apply only to the selected user.
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit account settings.
- In the navigation menu, click Phone System Management then Users & Rooms.
- Click the Users tab.
- Click a phone user's display name.
- Click the Policy tab.
- Under General, click the Delegation toggle to enable or disable it.
- If a verification dialog displays, click Enable or Disable to verify the change.
- (Optional) Select the Restrict from adding delegation to users outside their own site checkbox to enable it.
Common area
This setting allows account owners or admins to enable or disable Delegation for a specific common area in the account. Changes apply only to the selected common area.
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit account settings.
- In the navigation menu, click Phone System Management then Users & Rooms.
- Click the Common Areas tab.
- Click a common area's display name.
- Click the Policy tab.
- Click the Delegation toggle to enable or disable it.
- If a verification dialog displays, click Enable or Disable to verify the change.
