Using AI Function in Zoom Sheets

Zoom Sheets introduces a new category of AI functions that enhance spreadsheet capabilities through natural language processing. These AI functions follow the same workflow as regular spreadsheet functions: write the function expression and select the scope, with the key difference that function expressions can be created using natural language prompts. AI Companion provides preset sub-functions tailored to common user scenarios, including prompt templates for classification, information extraction, format adjustment, rewriting, sentiment analysis, and summarization, streamlining data management and analysis tasks.

Requirements for using AI Function in Zoom Sheets

• Zoom Workplace Pro, Zoom Workplace Pro Plus, Zoom Workplace Business, Zoom Workplace Business Plus, Zoom Workplace for Education, or Zoom Workplace Enterprise account
• Productivity Suite or ZoomMate add-on
• Zoom Workplace desktop app for Windows, macOS, or Linux: 7.0.0 or higher
• Zoom Sheets enabled 
• AI Function enabled

How to use the AI Function in Zoom Sheets

1. Open a spreadsheet.
2. Select the desired cells you want to use AI Function in.
3. In the Zoom Sheets toolbar, click the AI Companion icon .
4. Click AI Function.
5. Select the desired function:
   • AI: General-purpose AI functions.
   • AI.CLASSIFY: Classify text from a cell range using AI Companion.
   • AI.EXTRACT: Extract specific information from the text using AI Companion.
   • AI.FORMAT: Formats data using natural language or standard format codes.
   • AI.REWRITE: Rewrites text in a specified style using AI Companion.
   • AI.SENTIMENT: Analyze sentiment for the text in a cell range using AI Companion.
   • AI.SUMMARIZE: Summarize text from a cell range using AI Companion.
6. (Optional) Click Parameter Description, to view additional detailed information on using the function.
7. Enter the parameters for the function, then hit the Enter key.
   AI Companion will begin applying the function. If there is an error when running the function, AI Companion will provide the reason for the failure and additional steps to complete the function.
