Using voting in Zoom Whiteboard

Voting in the Zoom Whiteboard helps you quickly prioritize ideas on your canvas. Start a voting session, set the number of votes each participant receives, and let them vote on selected objects. When you end the session, results appear automatically and can be exported for later use.

How to start a voting session

You can start a voting session using different methods:

Start from the right toolbar

  1. Create or open a whiteboard.
  2. In the toolbar on the top-right corner of the screen, click the Facilitation tools icon .
  3. Select Voting then click Create voting session.
  4. Configure your voting session options in the dialog that appears.

Start from the left toolbar

  1. Create or open a whiteboard.
  2. On the left side of the screen, click the More tools icon .
  3. Under the Facilitate tab, select Voting then click Create voting session.
  4. Configure your voting session options in the dialog that appears.

Start from selected objects

  1. Create or open a whiteboard.
  2. Select the objects you want participants to vote on (for example, sticky notes).
  3. Click the selection.
  4. Click Add vote, then select from Up vote or Down vote.
    Note: Selecting objects before starting a vote pre-filters what participants can vote on, making it easier to focus on specific items.

How to configure voting options

Set up basic options

Once configured, click Start to begin the voting session.

Select votable objects

  1. In the Voting options area, confirm which object types to include (for example, Sticky note).
  2. Review the count of selected objects.
  3. Click Unselect all objects on canvas to allow voting on all items.

When the session begins, all participants enter voting mode.

After ending the session, the Voting results panel opens automatically, displaying:

To export the results:

  1. Use the panel menu to export the results for sharing or documentation.

Don’t see Voting? The meeting host may have disabled facilitation tools for non-whiteboard owners. When this setting is off, features like Voting, Presentation mode, Laser pointer, and the Timer are unavailable to attendees.
