Configuring Survivable Distribution Groups

Survivable Distribution Groups ensure calls to an Auto Receptionist, Call Queue, or Shared Line Group are handled appropriately during survivability mode. While Survivable Distribution Groups don't provide all the advanced capabilities available in normal mode, they do allow calls to be routed to a designated set of users or to play a prompt when needed.

The following options are supported on a Survivable Distribution Group.

Supported phone numbers for Survivable Distribution Groups

In survivability mode, all numbers assigned to Survivable Distribution Groups remain active. Configure these numbers according to their specific types, as detailed in the sections below.

BYOC-P Phone numbers

When BYOC-P phone numbers are assigned to Auto Receptionists (AR), Call Queues (CQ), or Shared Line Groups (SLG), incoming calls are routed to the Zoom cloud under normal operating conditions and handled according to each feature's configuration. However, during survivability mode, when connectivity to the cloud is lost, these calls should be automatically rerouted to the ZPLS module by the customer SBC hosting the BYOC-P numbers to maintain service continuity.

To ensure uninterrupted call handling during survivability mode, the Auto Receptionist (AR), Call Queue (CQ), or Shared Line Group (SLG) must be linked to a Survivable Distribution Group (SDG) under the Survivable extension configuration.

In this setup, the SDG does not require phone numbers to be assigned directly to it. Instead, calls directed to the AR, CQ, or SLG will automatically be handled according to the SDG configuration.

When you configure the SDG with an extension number, internal users can dial the AR/CQ/SLG extension during an outage. Their calls will be automatically rerouted to the SDG's extension, ensuring seamless failover functionality and maintaining business continuity.

Zoom-provided or Provider Exchange (PEX) numbers

When Auto Receptionists (AR), Call Queues (CQ), or Shared Line Groups (SLG) are assigned Zoom-provided or PEX numbers, incoming calls route to the Zoom cloud during normal operations and are handled according to each feature's configuration. However, when connectivity to the cloud is lost and the system enters survivability mode, these calls are not automatically rerouted to the Survivable Distribution Group (SDG).

To ensure calls to AR/CQ/SLG are properly rerouted during an outage, two requirements must be met:
