Troubleshooting error 10417: Transaction did not complete
If you encounter an error message stating “10417: The transaction did not complete with the customer’s selected payment method.”, it means the following:
- PayPal attempted to process the payment using the funding source you selected (such as your PayPal balance), but the merchant (Zoom) does not accept PayPal balance as a valid funding method. The transaction requires a credit card, debit card, or linked bank account instead.
This issue typically occurs when:
- The selected PayPal funding source is your PayPal balance, which is not supported for this type of purchase.
- Your PayPal account does not have a valid credit card, debit card, or bank account linked as a backup funding source.
How to troubleshoot payment error code 10417
Do the following to troubleshoot:
- Verify your PayPal funding sources
Log in to your PayPal account at paypal.com and open your Wallet. Confirm that you have at least one active credit card, debit card, or bank account linked to your account. - Check your selected payment method
When initiating the payment, ensure that PayPal is not defaulting to your PayPal balance. Zoom requires payment to be completed using a card or bank account within PayPal. - Update or add a valid payment method
If you do not have an eligible funding source linked, add a credit or debit card or a bank account to your PayPal Wallet before trying again. - Select an eligible funding source during checkout
When the PayPal payment window opens, manually choose your linked credit card, debit card, or bank account as the payment method instead of your PayPal balance. - Retry the transaction in Zoom
Return to the Zoom billing page and attempt the payment again after updating your PayPal funding settings.
