Adding and configuring the D2L Brightspace for Zoom connector
The D2L Brightspace for Zoom connector enables natural language interactions with Brightspace courses through the Brightspace (Valence) REST API. Teachers and students can manage news (announcements), content, grades, dropbox assignments, quizzes, enrollments, and users through conversational commands, while maintaining secure OAuth authentication. Zoom account owners or admins must install the D2L Brightspace for Zoom connector for their account, during which they configure the connection between Brightspace and Zoom.
Requirements for installing and configuring the D2L Brightspace for Zoom connector
- Zoom account owner or admin privileges
- Brightspace administrator privileges (Manage Extensibility)
How to add the D2L Brightspace for Zoom connector
To configure the D2L Brightspace for Zoom app, an admin must register an OAuth 2.0 application in Brightspace, then use those credentials to configure the connector in the Zoom Marketplace.
Create an OAuth 2.0 application in Brightspace
Brightspace uses OAuth 2.0 Authorization grant (authorization code with refresh tokens). Do not register a Client Credentials (server-to-server / JWKS) application for this Zoom connector.
- Sign in to Brightspace as a Brightspace administrator.
- Open Admin Tools, then click Manage Extensibility.
- Click the OAuth 2.0 tab, then click Register an app.
- Configure the following settings:
- Grant Type: Authorization grant.
- Application Name: Zoom Brightspace Connector.
- Redirect URI: https://integrations.zoom.us/connectors/oauth/callback/authorized
- Scope: enter the space-delimited list below. This value must include every scope you will later paste into the Zoom Marketplace.
Note: core:*:* is the Brightspace fallback scope for API routes that do not yet have a specific scope. Some Learning Platform routes used by this app (course schema, course templates, and org-unit demographics) require it.
