Native Zoom Rooms and Zoom Rooms for Google Beam Comparison

The meeting experience between native Zoom Rooms and Zoom for Google Beam is largely at parity in the joined meeting experience itself. Differences occur primarily in the out-of-meeting experience.

Native Zoom Rooms deliver the full Zoom platform experience end-to-end, while Zoom for Google Beam delivers a near-identical Zoom meeting experience running from HP Dimension, with the device retaining control of the device platform and hardware features.

Non-applicable room settings are hidden in the Zoom web portal for Google Beam rooms, and account-level settings that don't apply to Google Beam for Zoom (e.g., Automatically update OS/Firmware, Apple Screen Mirroring, Virtual Background with Greenscreen) are ignored by Google Beam devices.

Standard meeting experience room settings (e.g., Zoom AI, Cloud Recording, Video Layouts, Captions) remain visible in the Zoom web portal with a tooltip and apply only when the room is in a standard video call (or force the call into 2D if enabled at meeting start).

Standard video calls are handled through Zoom’s servers, while 3D calls are handled through Google Beam’s servers. See below for more detailed information comparing Native Zoom Rooms and Zoom for Google Beam.
