Canadian time zone change: what to do for Zoom meetings and webinars after November 1, 2026

Table of Contents

What is changing

Starting November 1, 2026, British Columbia will stop changing its clocks for daylight saving time. It will stay on UTC−07:00 year-round. For more information, see the Government of British Columbia announcement. Alberta and Manitoba are also changing their clock rules, and affected users in those regions should follow the same steps.

Why this affects Zoom meetings

Zoom stores the start time of each meeting and webinar when it is created, based on the time zone the host selected. Events created before Zoom's time zone update, with dates on or after November 1, 2026, may show one hour later than the time you intended.
Zoom cannot correct these events automatically, because Zoom does not store the local time the host originally chose. Hosts need to review and update affected events.

What Zoom has done

What you need to do

  1. Update Zoom Workplace desktop client to version 7.1.0 or later, then restart Zoom.
  2. If you use Windows, apply the Microsoft interim update for British Columbia time zone changes.
  3. Check your Zoom profile time zone. If you live in British Columbia and have Pacific Time (US and Canada) selected, change it to Vancouver or the closest city in your area. Pacific Time (US and Canada) follows US daylight saving rules, so it will not match British Columbia after November 1, 2026.
  4. Review meetings and webinars scheduled on or after November 1, 2026. Pay special attention to recurring meetings and events with registrants or attendees.
  5. Update each affected event. Open the meeting or webinar, select the correct time zone, check the start time, and save. For recurring meetings, update the series. Saving can resend calendar invitations and reminder emails.
  6. Confirm that calendar invitations and participant notifications show the intended local time.
