When enabled by an admin, Team Chat Thread Summary with Zoom AI Companion offers a solution by leveraging AI technology, which may include third-party models, to condense chat discussions and summarize messages in a thread. You'll find the thread summary option below the original message of the thread.

Additionally, you can use AI Companion to help you compose chat messages based on the conversation and customize their tone and length.

Requirements for summarizing threads in Team Chat

A Licensed user on a Zoom Workplace Pro, Zoom Workplace Pro Plus, Zoom Workplace Business, Zoom Workplace Business Plus, Zoom Workplace Enterprise, Zoom Workplace Enterprise Plus, or Enterprise Bundle account
- Thread Summary is available to customers with an active BAA. Learn more about AI Companion feature availability.
Advanced Chat Encryption disabled

Zoom desktop app for Windows, macOS, or Linux: Global minimum version or higher

Sign in to the Zoom desktop app.
Click the Team Chat tab .
Under the original message of the chat thread you want to summarize, click the summarize thread with AI Companion icon .
AI Companion will summarize the thread.
(Optional) Click Copy to copy the summarized content.
(Optional) Click Translate to... to translate the thread summary into a different language.
Note: By default, thread summaries are shown in the primary language of the thread.
(Optional) To provide feedback about the accuracy of the thread summary, click the upvote icon or downvote icon .

Android | iOS

Sign in to the Zoom mobile app.
Tap the Team Chat tab .
Tap a chat or channel to open it.
Under the original message of the chat thread you want to summarize, tap the summarize thread with AI Companion icon .
AI Companion will summarize the thread. Scroll down to review the entire summary.
(Optional) Tap Copy to copy the summarized content.
(Optional) Tap Translate to... to translate the thread summary into a different language.
