Starting or joining a meeting as the host

If you are the meeting host and need to start or join a scheduled meeting, there are several ways that you can join the meeting. As the host, you can start the meeting from the Zoom Workplace desktop or mobile app, the Zoom Web app (web browser), the Zoom Web portal, a SIP/H.323 device, email, or Zoom Room.

You can start a meeting by phone as the host using your host key. Learn more about starting a meeting by dial-in.

How to start or join a meeting that you're hosting

Windows | macOS

Home tab

  1. Sign in to the Zoom Workplace desktop app.
  2. At the top of the app, click the Home tab .
    Meetings that you have scheduled will be listed in chronological order for today.
  3. (Optional) Click the ellipses icon to filter and search for meetings.
  4. Click the Zoom meeting you want to start.
  5. On the meeting card, click Start.

Meetings or Calendar tab

  1. Sign in to the Zoom Workplace desktop app.
  2. At the top of the app, click the Meetings tab  or Calendar tab .
    Note: If you have set up the calendar and contacts integration to connect your calendar, you will have the Calendar tab. If you haven’t connected your calendar, you will have the Meetings tab.
  3. Click the Zoom meeting you want to start.
  4. On the meeting card, click Start.
Android | iOS

Home tab

  1. Sign in to the Zoom Workplace mobile app.
  2. At the bottom of the app, tap the Home tab .
    Meetings that you have scheduled will be listed in chronological order for today.
  3. Locate the Zoom meeting you want to start.
  4. To the right of the meeting name, tap Start.

Meetings or Calendar tab

  1. Sign in to the Zoom Workplace mobile app.
  2. At the bottom of the app, tap the Meetings tab  or Calendar tab .
    Meetings that you have scheduled or have been invited to will be listed in chronological order for today.
  3. Locate the Zoom meeting you want to start.
  4. On the meeting card, tap Start.
Zoom Web App
  1. Sign in to the Zoom Web App.
  2. At the top of the app, click the Home tab Meetings tab , or Calendar tab .
  3. Click the Zoom meeting you want to start.
  4. On the meeting card, click Start.
SIP/H.323

To start a meeting as the host from a SIP/H.323 device, you will need to include the host key in the dial string. You can find your host key at zoom.us/profile. Learn more about host key.

Call out from the device using one of the following dial strings:

Meetings without a passcode:

[IP Address]##[Meeting ID]###[Host Key]
Example: 192.168.1.25##123456789###123456

Meetings with a passcode:

[IP Address]##[Meeting ID]#[Passcode]#[Layout]#[Host Key]
Example: 192.168.1.25##123456789#12345#11#123456

SIP

Call out from the device using one of the following dial strings:

Meetings without a passcode:

[Meeting ID]...[Host Key]@[IP Address]
Example: 123456789...123456@192.168.1.25

Meetings with a passcode:

[Meeting ID].[Passcode]..[Host Key]@[IP Address]
Example: 123456789.12345..123456@192.168.1.25

Web portal
  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
  2. In the navigation menu, click Meetings.
  3. On the Upcoming tab, locate the Zoom meeting you want to start.
  4. Hover over the name of the meeting, then click Start.
    The Zoom Workplace app should launch automatically to start the meeting.
Email
  1. Confirm that you are signed in at zoom.us/profile in the same browser.
  2. Start the meeting by clicking on the URL Link in your e-mail or calendar invitation.
    The Zoom Workplace app should launch automatically and start the meeting.
