New, enhanced, and changed features

TypeFeature titleDescriptionPlatforms
Zoom web portal features
New or enhanced featureSidebar tab visibility enhancementsAccount owners and admins can control the visibility of sidebar tabs based on chat creation permissions. When admins restrict the creation of channels, shared spaces, meeting chats, or apps, the corresponding sidebar tabs are hidden from users who are not members of these chat types. Users who are already members of existing chats or are added to these chat types can still access them through their respective sidebar tabs. For apps specifically, the visibility is controlled through the Zoom Apps Quick Launch Button toggle in the admin settings. This enhancement provides a more streamlined and permission-aligned interface for users.Web portal
New or enhanced featureRemove data for chat history downloadsOn March 16, 2025, Zoom will delete downloads from Chat History Downloads (ADMIN > Account Management > Reports > User Activity Reports > Chat History > Downloads) that are older than 30 days, and going forward, on a 30-day rolling calendar, pursuant to data retention policies. Note: File passwords are required to unzip downloads and will not be saved after deletion.Web portal
New or enhanced featureRemoval of external labels for free single usersFree single users will no longer see external labels or banners on their contacts and channels within Team Chat. This change applies exclusively to accounts with only one user, while accounts with multiple users continue to see external labeling as before. The streamlined interface helps individual users focus on their communications without unnecessary visual elements. This simplification enhances the chat experience for free single users by reducing interface clutter.Web portal
New or enhanced featureForwarded message support in admin chat historyAccount owners and admins can now view additional details for forwarded messages in the chat history report. This includes the original author's name, channel name, and timestamp of the forwarded message. The system follows security protocols to properly display or hide message attributes based on channel ownership. These enhancements help admins more effectively track and manage message forwarding activities within their organization's Team Chat channels.Web portal
New or enhanced featureEnhancements to channel tab creation permissionsChannel owners and admins can now configure permissions for who can add, edit and remove resource tabs within their channel. The setting is accessible through the Create or Edit Channel flows. For existing channels, the default permission remains with channel owners and admins, while new channels will default to allowing all members to create tabs. This flexibility helps teams collaborate more efficiently by reducing bottlenecks in resource management.Web portal
New or enhanced featureDisplay message threading in legal hold and chat historyLegal Hold and Chat History CSV-formatted exports will now include message threading information, preserving the context of threaded conversations and replies. This enhancement helps organizations maintain accurate records of message relationships for compliance and legal purposes.Web portal
New or enhanced featureAllow channel admins to approve join requestsChannel admins now have the ability to approve or decline channel join requests, a responsibility that was previously limited to channel owners. When members request to join a channel, both owners and admins can review and process these requests. This enhancement ensures continuous channel management, even when channel owners are unavailable, fostering smoother team collaboration.Web portal
New or enhanced featureAdmin control to set timeframe for editing and deleting messagesAccount owners and admins can set specific time limits for how long users can edit and delete their chat messages. The time limit options include preset durations of anytime, within 1 minute, 5 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 24 hours, or 1 week of posting. This setting is configured at the account level and applies to all groups. This setting does not apply to account owners/admins, who may edit/delete messages in the Chat History Report in the admin portal. This feature helps organizations maintain better control over message modifications and ensures compliance with their communication policies.Web portal
Zoom desktop app and mobile app features (version 6.4.0)
New or enhanced featureRestrict file downloads on desktop and mobile appsUsers will be restricted from downloading files to their desktop and mobile apps if an admin enables the block file downloads setting. However, they can still view certain supported file types, like PDFs and images, within the desktop/mobile app. This setting applies to Team Chat and continuous meeting chat communications, helping protect data by limiting file downloads to personal devices. The feature requires admin configuration and applies only to supported file types.

Note: A new setting, "Downloading Files," will be added and enabled ON by default. Admins can disable it to block file downloads while still allowing limited viewing.

New or enhanced featureNew post-meeting card to indicate meeting summary and recordingContinuous Meeting Chat (CMC) members can view recording and summary icons in their post-meeting cards, indicating which assets are available for the meeting. When a recording or summary is ready but hasn't been shared, CMC members will see a banner stating that the host has not yet released the summary and/or recording. The host will have the ability to share the recording and/or summary with all CMC members from the host's view of the post-meeting card. Once the host shares the recording and/or summary, the banner will automatically disappear for all CMC members. This clear indication of available assets helps members understand what meeting content they can access for review.Windows

New or enhanced featureMass deployment controls for Team Chat settings in mobile appsAccount owners and admins can streamline the deployment of Team Chat preferences across their organization using enhanced mobile device management (MDM) capabilities. The configuration options allow admins to set how users view unread messages in channels, manage notification preferences, and customize platform-specific settings for both iOS and Android. Admins can specify whether users start at the first or latest unread message, control message count displays, and set notification parameters. These controls enable enterprise-wide consistency in Team Chat settings without requiring individual user configuration.Windows

New or enhanced featureImproved app experience for external users in meetingsExternal users can now interact with apps in meetings without authentication or installation requirements. New or enhanced featureEnhancements to interactive card supportUsers can continue to interact with interactive cards even when using older versions of the Zoom app. When a card contains new components that cannot be rendered by an outdated Zoom app, the system automatically provides a fallback experience through a web view. This ensures users maintain access to card functionality regardless of their Zoom app version or organizational update policies. The fallback mechanism helps maintain seamless communication and collaboration across different Zoom app versions.Windows

New or enhanced featureEnhancements to hyperlink security in chat messagesAccount owners and admins can disable hyperlinks across Team Chat and meeting chat environments through an account-level setting. When enabled, this security feature prevents URLs from becoming clickable links in all chat types, including direct messages, group chats, and channel conversations. Users can still send and view URL text, but the links remain unclickable to prevent accidental clicks. The link formatting option is removed from message compose boxes for internal users, while external users maintain their own hyperlink settings. This feature helps organizations reduce potential security risks from accidental URL clicks. This feature will not be immediately available, as it is dependent on a backend release, currently scheduled for March 30, 2025 Note: If admins disable links, only users on version 5.17.5 and above will have them disabled.Windows

New or enhanced featureEnhancements to group chat creationWhen starting a new group chat, users will continue to be automatically directed to their most recent conversation with that group (if one exists). The dropdown will now display any named group chats, channels, or continuous meeting chats with the same users, making it easy to find the right conversation. Older unnamed group chats won't be shown, reducing duplicates and simplifying the continuation of existing conversations, though they can still be found using Search. Users can also send a message directly to a channel, continuous meeting chat, or named group chat by typing its name in the "To" field when creating a new message. This streamlined flow will also be available on mobile.Windows

New or enhanced featureEnhancements to global search with direct message link copyingUsers can access a new copy link option directly within Team Chat's search results interface. The feature appears in both Messages and Top Results tabs, providing quick access to shareable message URLs. Users no longer need to navigate through multiple steps to obtain a message link, as the copy function is integrated directly into the search results view. This direct access to message links enables faster collaboration and simplified message sharing across teams and channels.Windows

New or enhanced featureEnhancements to draggable pop-up window behavior on macOSUsers on macOS can now experience improved window management when using Team Chat's draggable pop-ups. When users switch from Zoom to other applications, the pop-up windows automatically move beneath the active third-party application window. This behavior applies to Team Chat pop-ups, calendar windows, and home page scheduler, with the exception of Zoom Clips during active recording. This enhancement prevents unwanted obstruction of content in other applications while maintaining necessary visibility during screen recording.macOS
New or enhanced featureEnhancements to call and voicemail visibility in Team ChatUsers of the same account can now see phone call notifications and voicemail messages directly within their one-to-one Team Chat conversations. When receiving or making voice calls through Zoom Phone, call status notifications appear in the chat thread, including accepted, declined, and missed calls. Users can play voicemails, view transcripts, and manage notifications from a single interface. Red badge notifications automatically sync between Zoom Phone and Team Chat to prevent duplicate notifications. This integration helps users maintain conversation continuity and streamlines communication management across different channels. Note: This feature will not be immediately available, as it is dependent on a backend release, currently scheduled for March 26, 2025.Windows
macOS
Linux
New or enhanced featureEnhancements to badge notifications in channels and shared spacesUsers can now see "New" badges when they are added to new channels. The "New" badge overrides the unread count setting and remains visible regardless of user preferences. At-mentions take priority over "New" badges when both are present. These improvements help users quickly identify new content and important notifications in their workspace.Windows
macOS
iOS
Android
New or enhanced featureAbility to reorder shared spaces in the All tabUsers can now drag and drop shared spaces within the "All" tab of their sidebar to customize the order according to their preferences. This feature extends the existing reordering capabilities that were previously available for folders, starred items, chats, and channels. The enhancement brings consistency to the sidebar organization, allowing users to arrange all sections, including shared spaces, in their preferred order. This improved flexibility helps users create a more personalized and efficient workspace layout.Windows

The webhook events for message deletions include a new identifier that specifically indicates when messages are automatically removed due to reaching their retention period. This enhancement helps organizations better track and manage their message deletion events, enabling more efficient monitoring of deletions.Web portal

New or enhanced featureImprovements to forwarded messages in Team ChatThe forwarded message feature in Team Chat now retains the original rich text formatting and includes attribution details such as the original channel, author name, and timestamp. Users can also add a note with rich text formatting in the forward modal before forwarding the message. Additionally, the forwarded message contains a deep link to the original message, allowing users to access the conversation context.
