Configuring polling and assignments with Canvas

With the polling and assignments service for the LTI Pro 1.3 app, instructors can automatically have polls used during their class meetings, automatically available for grading within their course GradeBook.

How to set up the polling and assignment service in Canvas

  1. As an admin, log in to Canvas.
  2. Click Admin, then click Developer Key.
  3. Select LTI Pro, then click Edit.
  4. Click on the LTI Advantage Service and enable the following settings:
  5. Click Additional Settings, and in the Domain field, enter the domain for the app (eg. https://applications.zoom.us). 

Configure the LTI Pro app for the assignment and polling service

  1. As an admin, navigate to the LTI Pro app in the Zoom Marketplace.
  2. Under the Credential List, next to the 1.3 credentials used for Canvas, click Edit
  3. Enable Allow Zoom to send the Polling result back to LMS.

Enable the assignment and polling integration with Canvas

This feature must be enabled at the course level by instructors. Once the feature has been enabled in the LTI configuration by the admins, the instructor will see the option on their course homepage. To enable the feature for the course:

  1. Log in as an instructor and navigate to the course home page.
  2. Click the Zoom app.
  3. In the top right corner, click the icon, and click Enable/Disable Zoom Polls to Gradebook.
  4. Click Enable.

How to view student submissions in Canvas

View as an instructor

  1. Log in to Canvas as an instructor, and navigate to the course.
  2. Click Assignments, and open the poll.
    Note: The poll will not be visible till 60 minutes after the meeting has ended. 
  3. Launch SpeedGrader.
    The submissions from the students will be displayed.

View as a student

  1. Log in to Canvas as a student, and navigate to the course.
  2. Click Assignments, and open the poll.
  3. Click Submission Detail.
    The student will see their own submission for the assignment.
